    Time: 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm
Venue: Motor Yacht Club of Tasmania, Ford Parade, Lindisfarne

We are excited to present the following guest speakers:

    Tom Darke - Clubs Tasmania
    Developing grassroots sport in Tasmania

Tom has over 28 years of experience in the tourism and hospitality industry, having held various roles starting as a concierge then moving into a duty manager, and then as a general manager across several organisations in Southern Tasmania. For the past three years, Tom has taken on a new challenge as the Project Manager of the Clubs Tasmania initiative, delivered through the Tasmanian Hospitality Association.

Funded by the Tasmanian Government, Clubs Tasmania is a vital resource for community clubs across the state. The program delivers a range of educational workshops designed to support and upskill volunteers, while also advocating to all levels of government on behalf of clubs regarding the challenges they face.

Clubs Tasmania is dedicated to ensuring grassroots community clubs remain viable, sustainable, and well-informed. With a strong understanding that volunteers are the backbone of these organisations, the program focuses on improving governance, financial management, and infrastructure to drive participation and long-term success.

    Ali Turner - Cricket Tasmania
    Tasamania's Cricket Centre of Excellence

Ali heads up the Partnerships & Infrastructure portfolio for Cricket Tasmania, which includes strategic management and oversight of the business’ relationships with government at all levels, corporate and community partnerships and facilitation of infrastructure that supports the future of Tasmanian cricket. Ali brings a values driven approach to her work, placing high importance on authenticity, honesty and positivity.

Ali has held several senior positions within the Tasmanian Government prior to commencing her role with cricket three years ago. These have included ministerial advisory roles and working with the Department of State Growth as the Director, Major Project Delivery.

Ali’s skill set and experience is a great fit for Australian Cricket, as they continue to strengthen their relationship with Government at all levels and tackle a changing landscape with respect to major infrastructure in Tasmania. Ali is also a strong contributor to Australian Cricket’s national Government Relations and Infrastructure Teams, representing Tasmania’s interests.

For several years Cricket Tasmania has been considering the infrastructure requirements for Tasmanian cricket’s future operations (from grassroots to the elite levels) and what will best support development of the sport, athlete pathways and commercial outcomes.

Ninja Stadium has played an important role for Tasmanian cricket since the Association relocated its headquarters to the ground in the late 1980s and significant investment has been made to support growth of the game at local, national and international levels.

Growth of the game, particularly the expansion and professionalisation of women’s cricket, and the multi-purpose, shared use nature of Ninja Stadium has been such that the venue is no longer fit for purpose to support the next phase of the sport’s growth.

Earlier this year Cricket Tasmania entered into a contract of sale with the Royal Hobart Golf Club to purchase a parcel of its land at Seven Mile Beach to develop a new state-of-the-art sporting, administration, game development and education facility that will support the long-term growth of Tasmanian cricket.
